Alas! We’ve come to the point that begins a new fantasy football season. Yes! Sound the alarms it is time to do some drafting! This is the first year THE FFFL will be performing a draft that incorporates both rookies and DEVY prospects. What an exciting time to be alive!

A draft like this is very interesting. The combination of routes and decisions that need to be made are overabundance and managers need to be on their feet and prepared for whichever way this draft can take them. This is an exciting moment that has even professional chess players in envy due to the amount of strategy involved. Make it or break it moments, sweat on having to choose between player x and player y, deciding if you need to trade or not. It’s all leading to eventual fireworks in under a month! Time to see what I think each player is going in this year’s “THE FFFL Draft 2022”.

1.01 Team Zack and Andrea: Kenny Pickett — QB, PIT

I know you’re asking yourself, “why would this team with literally zero RBs take a QB?”. The answer is simple. You take the best guy on the board here regardless of need, and that guy is Kenny Pickett. Considering it’s also SF, no player is going to have as much value as Kenny Pickett has in this draft class: 1st RD capital, very stable and good org, and in a great place to succeed. These are all key factors on why Kenny P needs to be selected 1st overall. And hell, even if Kenny isn’t a part of the plan, you’ll probably get to sell him for more than 1.01 capital to get whatever RB of choice you want. Seems surefire to me. Take the best talent who gives you many routes and options to take further down the road for your team.

1.02 Nuclear Mac Daddy’s: James Cook — RB, BUF

This might drop a lot of jaws for whoever is reading this, but James Cook is my RB1 in this year’s draft of available players. I know he’s a tad undersized, but he plays bigger than he looks, and this kid is a STUD. Catches well, runs well, and even blocks well. Plus, he’s on the best QB in the NFL’s team right now in Josh Allen. I truly wouldn’t be shocked to see James Cook eventually win the job from Singletary and to post numbers equal to or better than Singletary’s late season run last year on a consistent basis. Also, contract wise, Cook is at an interesting spot like Kenneth Walker as the only RB that is in competition with them is on the last remaining year of their contract and haven’t been extended. But unlike Kenneth Walker, it’s guaranteed Cook will catch passes in BUF’s offense. In PPR, that holds quite the value, especially on one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses.

1.03 Darth Belichick: Brock Bowers — TE, UGA

Personally, I don’t know how or why you’d let Brock Bowers get out of the top five in this draft. I get it, there’s some talented rookies out there but this kid is something else. And I know he’s just going to be a sophomore, but that’s what makes this kid all the more special. The Belichicks take extreme pride in their TE assessments and right now this kid screams anywhere from the next George Kittle to Travis Kelce. Brock will be well worth the wait to whoever takes him, but at this spot you’ve probably got to be willing to take him early because he will be gone by the 1.07, at least I think he will. I think the Darth’s are willing to pull that string.

1.04 Team Zack and Andrea: Kenneth Walker — RB, SEA

My, my, my how the turn tables! Look, there’s going to be a running back available at the 1.04 but the question is who? Well, for this mock it’s clearly Kenny W. Second RB off the board in the NFL draft, not that great of competition for snaps, and to his credit he is a very good running back. But I hate the situation in SEA, I truly do, and I don’t think Kenny W is a beneficiary of the situation. Nonetheless, he will get opportunity and opportunity is king in the RB world regardless of team in the fantasy football world. Get a talented back and an actual serviceable back and Team Zack and Andrea has killed two birds with one stone here at the 1.04.

1.05 Diggs Us Out: Skyy Moore — WR, KC

This would probably come as a shock as well, but it has everything to do with who is throwing this kid the ball, his capital, and the fact that there really isn’t a threat for playing time and overall targets. Skyy Moore is a talented WR in his own right and this landing spot only makes him more alluring. I know Jameson is on the board, and you can make the case he might be a better long term WR if Goff isn’t the guy. But Goff’s deep ball concerns me for Jamo and so for that reason I’d rather turn to Skyy. I know we talk about Diggs Us Out’s RB situation a lot, but the truth of the matter is that their RB2 spot is just fine. It also doesn’t get talked about, but this team’s WR’s took a bit of a hit. Why not bolster that group with a WR who has just as high of a ceiling as these other WRs available? Skyy seems like a good fit right here.

1.06 Kyler The Creator: Jameson Williams — WR, DET

This pick is a little simpler if this is how the draft went. You bank on the talent of Jameson Williams and you hope for the best. If you read the Skyy Moore blurb you’ll know my concerns about Jameson. But if you believe that this is Goff’s last year in DET and they’ll take CJ Stroud, Levis, or Bryce Young or whoever then it’s a way better outlook for Jameson fantasy wise. He becomes the easiest choice here based on talent and ceiling alone though.

1.07 Grinderville: Jordan Addison — WR, ???

JA will be one of the top DEVY assets going into this draft whether you believe in him or not. Personally, I’m not sold on him due to his predecessors before him in the Whipple offense but a good season outside of Pittsburgh could easily change my mind! Still, he’s the reigning Biletnikoff winner and that has to stand for something. He’d be a good pickup for Grinderville.

1.08 Grinderville: Marvin Harrison Jr. — WR, OSU

Marvin Harrison Jr makes a lot of sense right here to me. 1) One of the top DEVY WRs available. 2) Will be a good incoming guy for Grinderville with Nuk and Lockett most likely on their way out. 3) If he’s anything like his dad…. he’s going to be an insanely good WR that shouldn’t get out of the first round. Give me Marvin Harrison Jr and something to be extremely excited for in 2024 for Grinderville here.

1.09 Grinderville: Dameon Pierce — RB, HOU

It’s not sexy at all. But it’s a sound pick for back-to-back picks for Grinderville. Dameon Pierce was PFF’s best RB overall last year and he’s pretty much a little bit better James Cook at 50% the price. Not to mention, he’s the prototypical size you love your RBs to be at 5'10" 218 pounds. I fully expect Dameon to walk away with a very easily winnable job at HOU and contribute significantly starting his rookie year (I also, might lowkey have a little bit of money on him winning OROY).

1.10 America’s Team: Will Levis — QB, UK

America’s team is an interesting pick here. Christian Watson is still on the board but having Drake London eases the need to add another WR. We also need to keep in mind that America’s Team doesn’t have a 2nd round pick. I like Will Levis right here. America’s Team has a tremendous QB duo, but they have no one else and considering they don’t have a 2nd round pick, why not take the best QB DEVY prospect that is available and will be in the NFL next year? Will Levis is arguably the most NFL ready among prospects for next year's draft and he has the measurables to be one as well. Taking him right here would be a good pick for America’s Team.

1.11 Trevority Cucks: Christian Watson — WR, GB

Christian Watson makes a whole lot of sense here. The “Reloading” Cucks sure could use a solid 4th WR for their squad. Take the best WR available who’s also got a crazy high ceiling since he’s tied to Aaron Rodgers for at least this year. Drafting Watson right here gives The Cucks more possibilities and actually does reload them to make another run for the championship…. barring the success of their QBs.

1.12 Darth Belichicks: Xavier Worthy — WR, TEX

The Darth’s are going to look to lock in their DEVY roster early and Xavier Worthy falling here would be icing on the cake for them. He’ll be one of the top WR assets managers are looking to acquire and he is a very talented athlete at the position evident by PFF’s #3 ranked freshman WR, and you can definitely argue he’s worth taking in the 1st round. The Belichicks just need to make sure to feed the kid a steak every now and then.

2.01 Everyone For Sale: Sean Tucker — RB, SYR

This debate is all about preference. I view Sean Tucker, Braelon Allen, and Nick Singleton as almost identical running backs. The jury is still out on Singleton, but I don’t think it’s far-fetched to say that all three of these backs are incredible at running the ball… but that’s about it. So why wait the extra year for Singleton or Allen when you can have Sean Tucker earlier? Sean Tucker had an extremely great season at Syracuse, whether you want to tag that up to necessity due to no other competition at the spot or not is up to you, but he warrants respect regardless. So, with respect in mind, I think Everyone For Sale takes him over the other two at the 2.01.

2.02 Kyler The Creator: Braelon Allen — RB, WIS

This is the same conundrum as Sean Tucker just less fold. If The Creators believe that Singleton can be a pass catcher than this spot is probably reserved for the kid. But why not just take a similar (and just as young) RB for a year earlier? Braelon Allen is a fine player and I only expect him to get better as he goes along at Wisconsin to make a play for top three back taken in the 2024 draft.

2.03 The Nuclear Mac Daddy’s: Hassan Haskins — RB, TEN

Hassan Haskins has been officially deemed as the heir apparent to Derrick Henry. PPF’s 3rd best RB this year, Haskins is also a very good do it all running back, and he will get all of the playing time should Derrick Henry go down. I would consider him to be a very valuable asset being on a run-first team that seems to be turning the page. It’s not a glamorous pick by any means, but it is one that can very well pay off in the mid-long run.

2.04 Yeezus Croissants: Rachaad White — RB, TB

Rachaad White is a peculiar prospect. Talented absolutely, but what will his role in TB with Lenny signed to a three-year deal. My speculation is that Todd Bowles will run it more than Bruce Arians did opening an avenue where Rachaad sees some piece of the pie as the #2 back in terms of rushing. But I also see Rachaad taking a role in some pass catching every now and then as well. He makes sense here for the Croissants in being the heir apparent post Lenny and/or TB12 at the RB position in Tampa.

2.05 Diggs Us Out: Nicholas Singleton — RB, PSU

I think this is where the #1 RB recruit for 2021 gets drafted. He’s the only five-star RB (debatable) in the class. His path to snaps at PSU is extremely easy where he should be starting right out of the gates. And his possibilities are endless at this point where it’s hard not to take a shot at him in the middle of the second round. I think he’s a fine get at a fairly reasonable value here for Diggs Us Out.

2.06 ManzielsDealer: Luther Burden — WR, MIZ

Right after the #1 RB goes, the #1 WR in this year’s freshman class too will go off the board. He’s got good height and weight right out of the gate and a #1 ranking doesn’t come lightly. I like the tap and what the kid has to offer, the only question will be can that talent shine and thrive in Missouri?

2.07 Yeezus Croissants: Alec Pierce — WR, IND

Alec Pierce is one of this year’s under rated darlings of the draft. Athletic with great measurables, but relatively unproven. But I think if anyone can unlock the kid it’s Matt Ryan and Frank Reich. Alec already steps into the WR2 role in IND and can easily push to move into the team’s WR1, but like I said, it’s just a matter of if the talent is unlocked.

2.08 Grinderville: Jelani Woods — TE, IND

I know that McBride is still on the board and the #1 TE taken in the draft. But I just like Jelani’s talent and landing spot so much better. Frank Reich uses talent (like any normal coach should) and he uses talent well. Plus, there’s not really any competition for Jelani, seriously there isn’t. Mo Allie-Cox or Gigantaur isn’t that difficult to beat out for the TE spot.

2.09 Grinderville: Blake Corum— RB, MICH

People are going to have their debates on Corum vs Edwards. The fact of the matter is last year Corum got way more snaps than Edwards last year and will be the 1A on this Michigan offense, plus he gets to the NFL one year sooner. I view both of these back similarly except for one little thing that gives Corum a little bit of the edge over Donovan for me, center of gravity. Unless Edwards has gained weight, these two backs are roughly the same except Corum is four inches shorter. While I prefer my backs around the 5'10" mark I do like RBs that can get to lower pad levels, and the taller you are the harder it is to do that. This combined with a good skill set that produced last year in all facets of the game gives Corum the edge for me and makes him an ideal pick here for Grinderville as one of the top DEVY RB prospects this year.

2.10 Everyone For Sale: Tyler Van Dyke — QB, MIA

Even though The Sales have Bryce Young waiting in the wings it’s still nice to have other QB prospects with a decent ceiling. Tyler Van Dyke is one such prospect who flashed during his first year as a starting QB and is receiving quite the amount of hype. Add in good measurables and there is quite some allure to this kid. If he can show growth this next upcoming year I wouldn’t be shocked to see his stocked pushed into the first round. Very good pick at the 2.10 here for The Sales.

2.11 Trevority Cucks: Tyler Allgeier — RB, ATL

Love, love, LOVE this landing spot for Allgeier. Cordarelle Patterson is not a full time RB and if there’s anyone in this world who tries to convince you of that you need to bring them to light. That leaves only journeyman RB and his elder twice over Damien Williams as sole competition for touches. Even for as bad as Mike Davis is and was, he was still getting 50% of the snaps in ATL last year. I see a world where those snaps go directly to Allgeier. All he has to do is beat out Damien for those snaps. This alone I think warrants 2nd Rd consideration for Allgeier. This also bolsters The Cucks RB rotation decently in my opinion.

2.12 MikeTomlins Standard’s: Wan’Dale Robinson — WR, NYG

Welcome to the draft finally Standard’s! I had to take a moment and put my brain into the Standard’s managers and try to figure out what the Standard’s would want to with this pick. Trey McBride? I’m sure that’s actually pretty enticing for the Standard’s if they same him here considering their love and affinity for TEs. But ultimately, I remembered that Wan’Dale is still on the board, and he was drafted in the early 2nd round and WR is a position The Standards could look to enhance. Wan’Dale is easily the top WR on the board at this moment so the Standard’s will take him.

3.01 Team Zack and Andrea: Donovan Edwards — RB, MICH
3.02 Darth Belichick: Tyquan Thornton — WR, NE
3.03 Kyler The Creator: Trey McBride — TE, ARI
3.04 MikeTomlins Standards — Brian Robinson — RB, WAS
3.05 Kyler The Creator: Jalen Tolbert — WR, DAL
3.06 ManzielsDealer: Jaxson Dart — QB, MISS
3.07 Everyone For Sale: Kobe Pace — RB, CLEM
3.08 Yeezus Croissants: Mario Williams — WR, USC
3.09 Diggs Us Out: Raheim Sanders — RB, ARK
3.10 Pour 1out4 Mahomies: Parker Washington — WR, PSU
3.11 Diggs Us Out: Jacob Cowing — WR, UA
3.12 Yeezus Croissants: Casey Thompson — QB, NEB

There you have it! The board is set for the first three-rounds. How does it look? Do you like it as the manager of your team? Does it fit the mold of what you’re trying to accomplish?? Do you even know the name of the player you’re drafting in this mock draft??? Oh, the excitement as the draft gets nearer is get uncontainable! Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
